Industrial Electrician / Instrumentation Technologist


The role of the Electrician is to perform electrical maintenance and repairs to crushing, screening, grinding, drying and other equipment associated with the production of silica sand products. The electrician must work within and comply with HCA Mountain Minerals (Moberly) Ltd. Safety Procedures. This is a Full-Time Position with a 7on/7off rotation with 12-hour shifts. The ideal person would live within close proximity to Golden/Moberly, B.C. or be willing to relocate.


  • Troubleshoot and repair as required existing electrical equipment up to 600 volt
  • All electrical work must conform with the Canadian Electrical and the CSA Use of Electricity in Mines Codes
  • Order the electrical material and supplies required to perform the work
  • Ensure an inventory of electrical materials and supplies are available for all equipment
  • Work with outside consultants to troubleshoot and problem-solving existing and or design new electrical circuits
  • Complete preventative maintenance check sheets and keep electrical repair records
  • Update electrical drawings to show any changes or modifications
  • Install new electrical equipment up to 600 volt (Breakers, disconnects, cabling, starters, VFD’s, lighting, transformers, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and repair the electrical and compressed air controls
  • Assist with the changing of vibrating motors
  • Replace bearings and electrical cables in the grinding mill vibrating motors
  • Assist with the changing of rods and mill liners in the fine grind mills
  • Install, program and repair variable frequency drives
  • Strive for continual improvements to the control circuits that will increase equipment availability
  • Must be prepared to work overtime when required
  • Other work as assigned by your supervisor
  • Supervise and Coordinate external contractors
  • Integrate with members of maintenance leadership team and work closely with production foremen to ensure key performance milestones are met throughout the production lifecycle


  • Journeyman Interprovincial Certification as an Industrial Electrician and/or Instrumentation Technologist
  • Strong computer skills; previous experience with scheduling and maintenance software considered an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as an electrician in a mine or heavy industrial setting
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written
